Even today in 2025, GTA 5 remains the most popular game, including singleplayer, online, and RP servers. In large part thanks to the 5mods and modding community, who improve the overall quality of the game and make it even better. Some GTA mods add photorealistic graphics to the game, others create alternative stories, plots, and even genres. If you want to play the game from a different angle, here are some options for this.
Summer Vibe
If Los Santos feels too cartoonish to you, let’s get some summer vibes. The mod is a comprehensive overhaul of the game’s visuals and gameplay. In the first case, it’s a full seasonal rework, including a change to the game’s palette for a more golden, Southern California-like vibe.
The mod does not add new objects or gameplay features, but uses existing resources in a different format. Thus, it has less impact on performance, and visual changes will include:
- Changed color LUT filters.
- Warmer lighting throughout the day;
- Reduced fog density;
- Brighter skies with an emphasis on sunsets and sunrises;
- Minimal rain (or turn it off completely if this is not for you);
- Updated bloom and ambient occlusion settings via ReShade.
The mod is designed for compatibility with ReShade and can be used together with ENB. Conflicts are possible, especially if weather presets from other mod packs are installed. The main load goes to post-processing, so the mod is perfect for medium and higher PC builds.
Complex Control
If you’ve already completed GTA V, including all the endings, try turning it into a roguelike action game. The Complex Control mod appeared during the rise of games like Vampire Survivors, Hades, Dead Cells, and The Binding of Isaac. Instead of a typical shooter, you now play as a character with random abilities in a procedurally generated combat zone.
Each session is a unique battle. There are dozens of perk combinations like teleportation, telekinesis, and temporary invincibility. You’ll find random loot, fight to control zones, and if you die, you start over from scratch.
The mod, created by THEAETIK (currently at version 2.1), is one of a kind. Randomly generated maps, new mechanics, and a fresh gameplay loop make it something rarely seen in GTA.
Ultimate Fishing Mod
If you like fishing in games and have caught everything you can in Stardew Valley or RDR 2, it’s time to try mods for GTA. Here, almost everything is like in Skyrim: if you want something new, download mods. Libertylocked, the developer of Ultimate Fishing Mod, had the same idea, because in Los Santos there are beaches, boats, piers – but not a single fishing rod.
As a result, the game with this mod has new mechanics, no worse than in RDR 2: more than 20 types of fish, different types of bait, weather influence, separate locations and conditions for unique fish, etc. In addition, the game now has a small but generally accessible micro-economy tied to the fishing business. You can sell the catch or make trophies for yourself.
The mod is currently available only for single-player GTA, but there’s hope it will make its way to RP servers. Right now, fishing exists only in name and hasn’t been meaningfully developed.
Arthur Morgan
Since we mentioned RDR 2, how about SirDesse’s Arthur Morgan Mod? The mod only replaces the character’s model and appearance, while the voice and animations remain standard. We hope SirDesse will not abandon his “creation” and transfer Arthur from the Wild West to Wild Los Santos.
JobsV
GTA 5 has always lacked a sense of life beyond crime. The JobsV mod by IlayArye offers several peaceful professions: bus driver, firefighter, doctor, pilot, and others. All roles come with an interface, salary, routes, and even dialogues with NPCs.
For example, working as a bus driver, you get a route map, stops, and a schedule. There are fines for non-compliance with the rules, and for conscientious work, a stable salary. The mod allows you to literally “take a break from GTA” if you are tired of shooting, robberies, etc. The author of the mod made it so that his development was compatible with Redux, VisualV upgrades, as well as other simple mods (for example, the previous mod with fishing).
Chaos Response
Chaos Response is an alternative to LSPDFR, another popular mod that puts you on the right side of the law in Los Santos. You’ll respond to crimes in progress, gang shootouts, murders, and other high-risk incidents across the city.
The mod includes several upgrades and mini-events mixed in with standard repeatable missions. For example, what starts as a routine police call might turn into something unexpected, like a UFO event or much better.
The gameplay focuses on meeting specific conditions, such as time of day or mission history, rather than chaotic shootouts. Calls are randomly generated throughout the city, and many require real effort and precision.
The mod works well with other AI or weapon-enhancement mods and doesn’t interfere with the main story. Still, it’s best played on a fresh save for maximum stability.
